Donald Trump's cryptocurrency project World Liberty Financial made a large-scale cryptocurrency purchase in December, and after acquiring 0.25 million USD of Ondo (ONDO), the total expenditure is now approaching 45 million USD.

According to data from blockchain monitoring accounts Lookonchain and Arkham Intelligence, since November 30, the World Liberty wallet has purchased Ethereum worth 30 million USD and Coinbase Wrapped BTC (cbBTC) worth 10 million USD, along with several other tokens.

Lookonchain shows that the most recent purchase occurred around 11 PM on December 15, where 0.25 million USD of Ondo was bought, and about a day earlier, it had purchased 0.5 million USD of Ethena.

Previously, the company bought 2 million USD worth of Chainlink and Aave tokens, bringing the total token purchases for this month to 44.75 million USD.

The project was announced in September, self-proclaimed as a decentralized finance (DeFi) platform for trading cryptocurrencies, with the elected president Trump listed as its "chief cryptocurrency advocate," while his son Donald Jr., Eric, and Barron are designated as "ambassadors." Companies associated with this family are entitled to 75% of the net income.

Nansen research Analyst Nicolai Søndergaard recently pointed out that World Liberty's token purchases may be a way to "gain additional trust, or a way to promote the project by revealing these assets, because if these assets perform well, the project might also perform well."

The project has been striving to achieve its sales target for the token called World Liberty Financial (WLFI). So far, the company has sold 0.3 billion USD WLFI, with less than a quarter sold.

However, last month, Tron Blockchain founder Justin Sun acquired Bitcoin worth 30 million USD, becoming the largest investor in the project and later becoming an advisor to it.

Sun and Tron were accused by the USA Securities and Exchange Commission of selling unregistered securities, while Trump promised to thoroughly reform the agency to make it more friendly to Cryptos.

Meanwhile, on December 13, the autonomous group behind the DeFi protocol Aave, AaveDAO, approved a proposal from World Liberty to allow it to deploy an Aave instance – its own version of the protocol.

The World Liberty proposal allows for borrowing of Ethereum, wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC), and stablecoins USD Coin and Tether. The company will also distribute 20% of the generated fees and 7% of the WLFI supply (valued at 21 million USD) to AaveDAO at a price of 1.5 cents.
