eWell <5038> is developing a cloud service business that provides SaaS-type business support tools (electronic medical records “iBow” dedicated to home-visit nursing), etc. for home-visit nursing stations, and a cloud BPO business (“iBOW office management agency service”, etc.) that performs medical fee billing operations on behalf of them. Note that “iBow” is a tool eligible for the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's “IT Implementation Subsidy 2024.” It is a single segment of the service provision business for home-visit nursing stations, but in terms of sales composition ratio, cloud services account for about 90%, and BPO services are around 9.5%. “iBow,” which is the main service, is a cloud system where patient information, information on medical treatment progress at home, etc. can be recorded and viewed, and active users (visiting nurses) support 0.04 million4,000 people or more, 0.2 million or more at-home patients as of the end of last year, and continue to accumulate more than 1.4 million medical data per month.
The third quarter financial results for the fiscal year ending 2024/12 announced on November 14 were 1860 million yen, up 24.1% from the same period last year in terms of sales, and 823 million yen, up 16.2 from the same period last year in terms of sales. Both the number of contracted stations (2,891 stations) and the customer unit price (79.3,000 yen) hit record highs. Sales for the full year are expected to grow at a high rate of 2560 million yen (up 23.7% from the previous fiscal year) and operating profit of 1111 million yen (up 22.3% from the same period), but it was confirmed that the trend was extremely smooth.
Furthermore, the company released an AI home-visit nursing report in October. Since the AI home-visit nursing plan was released ahead of time in April, awareness of generative AI utilization in iBOW was growing, but while the cumulative number of uses of AI home-visit nursing plans is 48,681 cases, AI home-visit nursing reports have been used in 59,474 cases, which exceeds the AI home-visit nursing plan in about 1 month from the start. The company estimates that the monthly work time required to prepare plans and reports can be shortened from an average of 7 hours to 1.4 hours (it is possible to create an average of 15.5 hours per month even at establishments that operate efficiently using iBOW), which can contribute to improving the productivity of home-visit nursing stations. AI has been researched since 2017 (IBM Watson at the time), and services utilizing AI have been provided since 2018. It is a product unique to Ewell, which has been working on improving the accuracy of generative AI by utilizing data stored in iBOW and creating a system that can create high-quality nursing records. The fee structure is an AI home-visit nursing plan and report set and is “number of visits* 20 yen,” and it is a measure leading to an increase in iBOW's earnings level.
The provision of a factoring service “e-receipt” dedicated to home-visit nursing stations has also begun. Home-visit nursing stations require funds corresponding to the growth phase, and the number of visits increases by supporting station growth through fund supply, and as a result, it is a measure that also leads to the company's sales. The service has been realized with the highest level of multiplication (95%), fee rate (0.5%), and maintenance cost (0 yen/month) in the industry.
Also, the regional comprehensive care platform “KEAROGTO,” which has already been announced, will also be a measure that will accelerate the company's growth. As the declining birthrate and aging population progresses, the government is implementing a policy to shorten the average number of days spent in hospitals from 18 days or less to 16 days. Due to this policy, the importance of discharge support has increased more and more, and the workload on health care workers has become serious. In conventional methods that rely on telephones and faxes, hospital personnel spend a huge amount of time and effort searching for home-visit nursing stations that can provide appropriate specialized care suited to the patient's medical condition. As the period from hospitalization to discharge is getting shorter and shorter, it is extremely difficult to find a station that satisfies the wishes of patients and families within a limited time. “Kealogto” is a new hospitalization and discharge support service that displays the characteristics and vacancy status of home-visit nursing stations in each region of the country in real time, and allows you to find and request stations suitable for patients on the spot, and this is provided free of charge. It is a measure to further advance the containment of the company's home-visit nursing stations. Since the number of matches is taken as an important indicator, development with a dominant strategy is planned, and it is expected that it will first expand in the Osaka/Hyogo area, where there are many iBOW users, and then expand to the Tokyo metropolitan area and nationwide.
In the medium-term management plan with the 2026/12 fiscal year as the final year, it is stated that while maintaining a low cancellation rate of around 0.1% and increasing the number of customers, upsells to existing customers will be raised from 19% in fiscal 2023 to 30%, aiming for sales of 4177 million yen, operating income of 1876 million yen, and an operating profit margin of 44.9%.
