A joint venture formed by Hysan (00014.HK) and Hong Kong Arts School signed a five-year memorandum of cooperation, appointing the Arts School as the operator of the performing arts and cultural facilities within the commercial development project Lee Garden Eight located on Caroline Hill Road in Causeway Bay. This strategic collaboration aims to combine the strengths and resources of all parties involved, integrate art into the Community and commercial spaces, promote the diversified development of cultural arts, enhance the attractiveness and cultural vitality of the Lee Garden area, and meet the growing spiritual and cultural needs of Hong Kong citizens. The signing ceremony of this memorandum witnessed the parties cooperating in response to the government's "Blueprint for Developing the Cultural and Creative Industry," supporting the further development of the local cultural and arts industry.
The five-year cooperation framework delegates the Arts School to operate the facility with professional and internationally recognized curatorial standards and strong resources. This cooperation framework includes operating hardware facilities such as a black box theater, providing flexible and innovative performance spaces for local and international arts groups; attracting more international arts institutions and organizations to hold cultural activities and exhibitions, using Causeway Bay's Lee Garden area as a cultural and arts hub in Hong Kong, creating a model of local and international cultural integration; offering creative and practical opportunities for students and alumni of the Arts School, showcasing the creative process and works, allowing visitors to have close encounters with the birth and evolution of artistic creations; and adhering to the principle of "one book with diverse content," making good use of various artistic pocket spaces in the Lee Garden area (Pocket Spaces: typically smaller, underutilized spaces, as well as spaces redeveloped using creativity) as venues for different types of artistic displays, further deepening the integration of art and community, injecting more creative elements into Causeway Bay, and promoting the influence of Hong Kong's cultural industry on the international stage.
Lee Garden Eight is jointly developed by Hysan and Hong Kong Arts School, covering a total floor area of over 1 million square feet, and is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2026. Upon completion, it will further enhance the Lee Garden area. The project reserves about 0.02 million square feet of total floor area for performing arts and cultural facilities, including a black box theater accommodating approximately 150 viewers, multifunctional exhibition and open spaces, as well as a café.
