Reuters's Climate Lens reported on Friday that global sales of fully electric vehicles (EV) and plug-in hybrid vehicles (hybrid EV) in November rose 32% year-on-year (YoY) for the sixth consecutive month, based on graphical data from market research firm Rho Motion. Month to month, the global EVs and hybrid EVs sales rose for the fifth consecutive month in November since July.

EVs and hybrid EVs are widely perceived as less polluting in terms of carbon emission. Nevertheless, some critics have raised questions on carbon emitted throghout the processes of manufacturing EV and EV batteries, as well as the recharging of batteries. Still, EVs are an important part of meeting global climate goals and are featured prominently in mitigation pathways that limit global warming. Producing batteries in regions with relatively low-carbon electricity or in factories powered by renewable energy can substantially reduce battery-related emissions. (Source: )

Rho Motion report shows that sales in China were up 50% at 1.27 million vehicles. In the United States and Canada, EV sales were up 16.8% at 0.17 million, while Europe had sales of 0.28 million, down slightly year on year but up 7.7% from October. In the rest of the world, sales were flat against November 2023..
