The transition team of the USA's elected president Trump has proposed to eliminate the requirement for companies to report data on collisions involving Automobiles, while Tesla's (TSLA.US) founder Musk has consistently opposed reporting such data, believing that the requirement targets Tesla.
The Trump administration's transition team stated that the measure is an excessive enforcement of data collection.
Foreign reports indicate that canceling the accident disclosure clause is particularly beneficial for Tesla, which has been a target of investigations by the USA National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). According to the administration's accident data analysis, as of October 15, Tesla accounted for 40 of the 45 fatal accidents that were investigated.
