The first chip manufacturing plant of Taiwan Semiconductor (TSM.US) located in Arizona, USA will be completed as scheduled. It is currently undergoing trial production, producing sample chips, and sending them to customers for verification. It is reported that Apple (AAPL.US) is the largest customer of this plant.
The plant covers an area of 3.5 million square feet, and the company initially announced an investment of up to 12 billion USD, aiming to produce 5-nanometer chips by the end of 2024. However, the plant will now produce more advanced chips than originally planned, with a production rate of 0.02 million wafers per month for 4-nanometer chips.
