Petronas Chemical Berhad has informed that its Chairman and non-independent non-executive director Datuk Ir. Dr. Rahim Hashim will be leaving the group effective January 1 2025.

Datuk Rahim joined the group in 2022 and held various directorships and positions in Petronas. Apart from being a board of engineers member, he is also a director at Deleum, Vice Chancellor at UTP and University Malaya.

Succeeding him the group has appointed Datuk Sazali, he is currently the Executive Vice President, PETRONAS and Chief Executive Officer of Downstream Business. He also holds various positions as Chairman/Director of various companies within PETRONAS Group.

He was previously the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad from 8 May 2014 to 31 December 2021. He was also the MD/CEO, PETRONAS Penapisan (Melaka) Sdn Bhd and held various positions in PETRONAS including Senior General Manager of Group Technology Solutions, Head of Project Management and Delivery, & various senior management positions through roles in the refinery and petrochemical business.
