① On December 12, 2023, elected President Trump was named Time Magazine's Person of the Year for 2024 and rang the opening bell at the NYSE that day; ② Trump rang the bell with the CEOs of ICE and Time Magazine, as well as the NYSE president, and CEOs from companies like Goldman Sachs and Citigroup were present; ③ Trump promised an "unprecedented economy," planned to increase oil drilling to reduce inflation, and pledged to lower the corporate tax rate to 15%.
On Thursday local time (December 12), the president-elect of the USA, Trump, rang the opening bell at the NYSE, and on that day he was named Time magazine's Person of the Year for 2024.
He stated that the stock market is everything to him, and it is very important. He also reiterated his tax reduction plans. Regarding the much-anticipated Cryptos field, he mentioned that he would "do some great things" in the Cryptos field.
The NYSE stated on its official website that to commemorate Trump being named Person of the Year by Time magazine, Trump rang the opening bell together with the CEOs of the Intercontinental Exchange and Time magazine, as well as NYSE President Lynn Martin.
This result also confirms the general expectation. Since Bush in 2000, the magazine has awarded this honor to the winner in every presidential election. Trump was also named the magazine's Person of the Year when he first won the USA election in 2016. Last year's Person of the Year was American singer Taylor Swift.
It should be noted that Time Magazine has long stated that "Person of the Year" is not always an honor and does not necessarily recognize the elected individual; rather, it selects those individuals or forces that have changed the world, such as Clinton, who was chosen as one of the Persons of the Year in 1998 due to a scandal.
Looking back to 2016 when Trump was selected as Person of the Year, the cover of Time Magazine read "President of a Divided America." In comparison, the cover for the 2024 Person of the Year only has "Donald Trump."

According to the livestream footage, in addition to the four people mentioned in the NYSE statement, also present to ring the bell were incoming Vice President James David Vance, Melania Trump, who is about to become First Lady of the USA again, and Trump's two daughters, Ivanka and Tiffany.
However, the two sons who played a key role in Trump's campaign—Donald Jr. and Eric, along with his youngest son Barron, were not present. Eric posted on Social Media X that the Person of the Year is "well-deserved," while Donald Jr. lamented that they have "won big again."
According to reports, among the crowd watching Trump ring the bell were Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon, Citigroup's Jane Fraser, Verizon's Hans Vestberg, Target's Brian Cornell, and Pershing Square's Bill Ackman.
Before ringing the bell, Trump gave a brief speech, promising that the new government would usher in an "unprecedented economy," stating, "We will provide huge incentives that other countries have never had," including significant tax cuts.
Trump reiterated plans to increase oil drilling in the USA, explaining that doing so would reduce inflation. He also reaffirmed his commitment to further cutting the corporate tax rate to 15%, but only for businesses that choose to manufacture in the USA.
After ringing the bell, Trump added during an interview with influencer stock analyst Jim Cramer, "If you don't produce here, you will have to pay a 21% tax. If you produce here, we will work to lower the rate to 15%, and you must produce your products in the USA."
Trump also credited the recent rise in the stock market to his victory over Biden (rather than Harris), saying, "I have always said that for me, the stock market is everything." He revealed that after returning to the White House, he would establish closer ties with some of the wealthiest and most influential people.
"Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has come to see me, and I can tell you that Musk has as well," Trump said, "$Amazon (AMZN.US)$CEO Jeff Bezos is coming next week, and I want to get some ideas from them.
