According to Reuters, the Malaysian government established the National Artificial Intelligence Office today (12th), aiming to formulate policies related to artificial intelligence and address regulatory issues, hoping to make the region a hub for artificial intelligence development. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar described the establishment of the National Artificial Intelligence Office as another historic moment in the local transformation journey.
The report states that the aforementioned office will serve as the central institution for artificial intelligence development in the area, covering strategic planning, research and development, regulation, and other tasks. It is expected to achieve seven deliverable outcomes within the first year of establishment, including the formulation of ethical guidelines and an artificial intelligence regulatory framework.
In addition, the Malaysian government also announced today the establishment of strategic partnerships with six technology companies, including Amazon (AMZN.US), Google, and Microsoft (MSFT.US). (js/u)
