On December 12, according to CCTV, this morning, the largest container ship to enter Nanjing Port since its opening—the Panama-registered ship "Maidihongwei"—successfully docked at Longtan Container Terminal, setting a new "dual historical record" for the longest size and maximum load of incoming container ships. The ship is 208.3 meters long, 29.8 meters wide, and has a deadweight tonnage of 33,715 tons. This voyage made a direct voyage from Europe to Nanjing, increasing the maximum container capacity of incoming ships from the current 1,938 TEU (standard container) to 2,600 TEU. The successful docking marks that 0.03 million-ton-class container ships can regularly enter and exit Nanjing Port.
