According to the Nikkei newspaper, Japan's major electronics manufacturer FUNAI has confirmed that it has begun bankruptcy proceedings, and related parties regarding the bankruptcy application have started negotiations to sell its North American and Japan Television Business to SKYWORTH GROUP (00751.HK).
Reports indicate that due to FUNAI's cash being nearly exhausted, the company needs to secure some funds to pay unpaid wages and taxes for laid-off employees. Currently, FUNAI provides televisions branded under the "Royal Philips brand" to Walmart in the USA; in Japan, it exclusively supplies "FUNAI" branded televisions to the home appliance giant Yamada Holdings.
