BlackBerry And TTTech Auto Unveil Key Solution For Safer, Smarter Cars

Benzinga ·  Dec 10 21:27

BlackBerry Limited (NYSE:BB) traded slightly lower in the premarket session on Tuesday following the announcement of a new collaboration with TTTech Auto.

The partnership aims to address the growing complexities in automotive software development as the industry shifts towards Software Defined Vehicles (SDVs).

As of now, BlackBerry's software powers over 255 million vehicles.

Together, they unveiled MotionWise Schedule for QNX Software Development Platform (SDP) 8.0, designed to accelerate the development process for automakers creating SDVs and ensuring the safe, real-time execution of applications on QNX SDP 8.

As automotive software grows more intricate, maintaining real-time system performance while ensuring safety, reliability, and precise timing is paramount. MotionWise Schedule for QNX SDP 8.0 meets this need by providing a high-performance runtime environment with deterministic task scheduling, optimizing resource utilization and reducing design and configuration efforts.

John Wall, COO of QNX, emphasized the goal of enabling developers to bring next-generation automotive software to market quickly and seamlessly.

By simplifying the complex integration tasks in SDV projects, this solution replaces manual configuration cycles with automated scheduling, reducing production delays and lowering costs.

Stefan Poledna, CTO of TTTech Auto, highlighted the benefits of improved task switching and increased CPU resource availability, which allow OEMs to deliver valuable features with less effort.

The new solution will be demonstrated at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, with availability expected in early 2025.
