An analysis of import records by Reuters over the past four years shows that Procter & Gamble has shifted its sourcing of stainless steel for its top beauty brands to cheaper manufacturers in India, a move expected to protect its profits from any tariffs that might be imposed by the newly elected President Trump in the USA. According to import records for Procter & Gamble's subsidiaries, including Gillette, the company is currently sourcing steel mainly from Jindal Stainless in New Delhi. A Procter & Gamble spokesperson confirmed the company's partnership with Jindal but stated that details of its relationships with business partners are competitively sensitive. The spokesperson also added that it is inaccurate to consider cost as the sole driver in any procurement decision.
