Simply Wall St ·  Dec 5 05:31

Even if it's not a huge purchase, we think it was good to see that Jonathan Coblentz, the CFO & Chief Administrative Officer of Oportun Financial Corporation (NASDAQ:OPRT) recently shelled out US$100k to buy stock, at US$3.91 per share. However, it only increased their shares held by 5.9%, and it wasn't a huge purchase by absolute value, either.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Oportun Financial

In fact, the recent purchase by Jonathan Coblentz was the biggest purchase of Oportun Financial shares made by an insider individual in the last twelve months, according to our records. That means that an insider was happy to buy shares at around the current price of US$4.01. Of course they may have changed their mind. But this suggests they are optimistic. We do always like to see insider buying, but it is worth noting if those purchases were made at well below today's share price, as the discount to value may have narrowed with the rising price. In this case we're pleased to report that the insider purchases were made at close to current prices.

Over the last year, we can see that insiders have bought 83.84k shares worth US$265k. But they sold 13.45k shares for US$33k. In total, Oportun Financial insiders bought more than they sold over the last year. Their average price was about US$3.16. It is certainly positive to see that insiders have invested their own money in the company.
