According to the intelligence financial news app, Meta platforms announced on Wednesday that they plan to invest $10 billion to build a 4 million square foot artificial intelligence (AI) datacenter in Louisiana, which will be the largest datacenter globally.
To provide power to the datacenter, the utility company entergy will add clean power plants to its system to meet the growing demand for electrical utilities.
Meta stated that they will use 100% clean and wind power, and will collaborate with entergy to introduce at least 1500 megawatts of new renewable energy into the grid.
Meta earlier this week mentioned that they are seeking advice from nuclear energy developers in an attempt to use nuclear power for artificial intelligence datacenters.
Entergy owns two nuclear power plants in Louisiana. The company has previously been approved by legislatures to invest in transmission and generation to serve the cloud computing facilities that amazon is planning to establish in Mississippi.
