Expectations of an early additional rate hike by the Bank of Japan weakened, while the stabilization of the situation in South Korea made yen selling dominant in relation to the won. Subsequently, the US November ADP employment statistics indicated that growth had slowed unexpectedly from October, and the revised PMI for November's services sector and the November ISM non-manufacturing index worsened more than expected, leading to a turn towards dollar selling with falling interest rates. After statements from Powell, the Chairman of the Fed, and the Beige Book district economic report, speculation about reducing the pace of interest rate cuts led to a retreat in dollar selling. The euro-dollar fell to 1.0473 dollars before rising to 1.0544 dollars, closing at 1.0510 dollars. European Central Bank President Lagarde presented a bleak economic outlook at the European Parliament, while political instability in France heightened caution, leading to dominant euro selling.

NY crude oil futures for January fell (NYMEX crude January settlement price: 68.54 ↓1.40).
