According to the Financial Associated Press on December 5 (editor Shi Zhengcheng), the USA AI startup OpenAI announced on social media on Wednesday that it will enter a period of continuously releasing new features starting from local time Thursday.
The company wrote in a tweet: "12 days, 12 live broadcasts, a bunch of new things big and small, OpenAI's 12-day event starts tomorrow."

CEO Altman further explained that starting from 10 AM Pacific Time on Thursday (2 AM Beijing Time on Friday), there will be a live broadcast every working day, showcasing a new product or sample, including some large new products and some "Christmas gifts."
What new products can we expect?
According to technology media The Verge, citing informed sources, these new products include the long-awaited text-to-video tool Sora and a new reasoning model (the complete version of the o1 model?).
Sora is a new product publicly announced by OpenAI at the beginning of the year and has been in an invitation-only testing phase this year. The company's former CTO Mira Murati has stated that Sora may be made public to users by the end of the year.
In addition, OpenAI may add a 'Santa Claus' voice to the ChatGPT voice mode, and some users have already discovered that the button for the voice mode can change into a snowflake shape in the code.
In a more speculative discussion among netizens, there have been many guesses about potential new features, or one might say 'wishes'.
First is the image generation feature of the GPT-4o model, which has always been locked; it demonstrated impressive results and generation control capabilities in early presentations, and this model also has native video analysis capabilities.
The advanced voice mode of ChatGPT also has room for improvement: it can connect to the internet for real-time searches and can be linked to cameras for analyzing the real world.
Netizens are also imagining being able to see previews of the o2 model or GPT-5o. Furthermore, although OpenAI's text-to-speech tool and the AI agent framework codenamed 'Operator' are expected to be released next year, they might also make an appearance in the next two weeks.
From these perspectives, OpenAI indeed has enough product inventory to fill a 12-day release cycle.
Weekly active users have surpassed the 0.3 billion threshold.
On Wednesday local time, Altman revealed during an event in New York that OpenAI's weekly active user count has exceeded 0.3 billion, with users sending over 1 billion messages to ChatGPT every day.
In a horizontal comparison, OpenAI's weekly active users surpassed 0.2 billion in August of this year.
According to reports from last week, insiders revealed that the company's goal for 2025 is to increase the number of active users to 1 billion. OpenAI announced the appointment of the company's first Chief Marketing Officer on Tuesday, which also indicates that the company is preparing to invest more in marketing to expand its user base.
As the company's next important milestone, ChatGPT will be directly integrated with Siri in Apple's iOS 18.2 system. If Apple continues to adhere to the update schedule of the past few years, iOS 18.2 is very likely to be officially pushed next week.
Altman also dismissed reports on Wednesday about the company requiring investors not to invest in competitors. However, he added that those who decide to invest in competitors will not have access to certain information, such as the company's development roadmap.
