HSBC Hong Kong announced today (4th) the launch of its first "open banking" feature on the mobile banking application "HSBC HK App", allowing users to view their savings and current account information at two other local banks within the app.
HSBC stated that the number of active personal users of the mobile banking application currently reaches 2.2 million, and the data sharing scheme brought by the Monetary Authority's "account interconnectivity" will encourage the local banking industry to continue innovating and expanding services.
Guo Zheming, head of digital for wealth management and personal banking at HSBC Hong Kong, indicated that as of October this year, the number of active users of the bank's mobile banking application has recorded double-digit growth year-on-year. Looking ahead, HSBC will introduce more related features on the "HSBC HK App", including spending tracking, wealth planning tools, and expedited loan application approvals.
