Meta (META.US) announced that in order to achieve the goals of artificial intelligence innovation and sustainable development, it is currently seeking to cooperate with nuclear power companies and will be soliciting proposals from nuclear power developers. It is expected to add between 1 gigawatt and 4 gigawatts of nuclear power capacity in the United States by the early 2030s, with multiple generators expected to be deployed.

Meta stated that artificial intelligence technology innovation is driving human development. In the process, there will be a need to adopt reliable, clean, and renewable new energy sources. It believes that nuclear energy can provide stable baseload power to meet the development needs of the company's datacenter. The company also mentioned that compared to continuous investments in cecep solar energy and wind energy projects, nuclear energy projects are expected to have higher capital intensity, longer development time, and require compliance with more regulatory requirements. However, it is also expected to have a longer operational lifespan.
