U.S. stocks were mostly lower, with the Dow Jones index falling more than 100 points on Tuesday.
Shares of AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) rose sharply during Tuesday's session after the company updated its 2024 guidance, raising the bottom end of its adjusted EPS outlook to $2.20-$2.25, above analyst estimates of $2.10.
AT&T is modernizing its 5G wireless network, aiming to complete the transition to open, high-capacity technology by 2027. The network, with deep mid-band 5G spectrum, will cover over 300 million people by the end of 2026.
AT&T shares climbed 4.2% to $23.65 on Tuesday.

Porch Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:PRCH) gained 24.5% to $4.6950.
Uxin Limited (NASDAQ:UXIN) climbed 17.2% to $4.95 as the company reported a strategic partnership with CATL's subsidiary to develop battery swapping ecosystem for used cars.
Vir Biotechnology, Inc. (NASDAQ:VIR) rose 14.2% to $9.31.
Core & Main, Inc. (NYSE:CNM) shares climbed 14.1% to $55.11 after the company reported better-than-expected quarterly EPS and sales.
BigBear.ai Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:BBAI) gained 12.3% to $2.46.
Sunstone Hotel Investors, Inc. (NYSE:SHO) surged 10.9% to $11.94.
MP Materials Corp. (NYSE:MP) gained 10.2% to $22.94.
