We are pleased to announce that Oji Holdings Corporation (President: Hiroyuki Ishino, Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo) will receive donations from our group company, Coop Power Inc., based on the amount of electricity purchased by members of the Kyushu Cooperative Federation (Representative Director: Junichi Eto, Location: Shinguri Town, Kasuya District, Fukuoka Prefecture) for a portion of the forest cultivation costs in our company-owned forests located in Kyushu.
Under the principle that "those who use trees have an obligation to plant trees", our company has planted and cultivated trees after logging, engaging in sustainable forest management for over 100 years. We hold approximately 0.635 million hectares, making us one of the largest private companies in Japan, which is about three times the area of Tokyo, and we refer to our company-owned forests as "Oji no Mori".
Additionally, a part of the electricity sold by Coop Power Inc. to the members is supplied from the biomass power plant of our group company, Oji Green Energy Nichinan Co., Ltd., where some of the fuel used for power generation is derived from timber harvested from Oji no Mori.
Forests provide various public goods, not only as a source of timber production but also for water source conservation, prevention of soil erosion, biodiversity conservation, and carbon dioxide absorption. Moving forward, our company will continue to engage in nature-positive management that maximally utilizes healthy and rich forests in collaboration with our stakeholders.
