In terms of order backlog, as of the end of September, the company's order backlog is approximately around 7.5 billion, with lithium batteries accounting for 80%, the rest being 3C and photovoltaic; it is expected that new signed orders will also see a considerable increase this year, especially in the photovoltaic field. Solid state battery mass production orders are currently in the final technical confirmation stage; Currently, the company's solid-state batteries are in the early stage of technical development, with the business gross margin higher than traditional technology by about 10 percentage points.
"Star Daily" report on December 3 (by reporter Yujiaxin), "In terms of order backlog, as of the end of September, the company's order backlog is approximately around 7.5 billion, with lithium batteries accounting for 80%, the rest being 3C and photovoltaic. From the source perspective, more than 50% of the order backlog comes from this year, while the rest comes from orders obtained before last year. In terms of progress, 50% of the order backlog has already been sent to customers, while the remaining 50% is in the design or production stage." Zhao Shengyu, Chairman and General Manager of Hymson Laser Technology Group, stated during the third-quarter performance briefing in 2024.
Zhao Shengyu stated, in terms of new signed orders, in the first three quarters of the year, the company's new signed orders together with the unbonded orders have exceeded the total amount of orders for the entire previous year. Lithium battery orders account for over 60%, while photovoltaic and 3C each account for about 15%.
In the first three quarters of this year, Hymson Laser Technology Group achieved revenue of 3.627 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.92%; and achieved a net income attributable to the parent company of 0.167 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 46.38%.
Regarding the progress of solid-state batteries raised by multiple investors, Zhao Shengyu stated that the company started laying out solid-state battery technology in 2023, mainly focusing on the innovation of battery structure and materials, with unique technical and innovative capabilities in several key devices such as the laser equipment for the positive electrode slice in the early process, special stacking of battery structure formation process, and negative electrode process control layer.
In August this year, Hymson Laser Technology Group announced the signing of a 2GWh solid-state battery mass production order with Xingjie Energy, worth around 0.4 billion. "This is the first mass production order of lithium metal high-energy-density solid-state battery equipment in the industry, currently in the final stage of technical confirmation," Zhao Shengyu said.
"The solid-state batteries produced by the current equipment are mainly used in the low-altitude flight and consumer electronics fields. Currently, the sales gross margin of solid-state batteries is higher than that of traditional liquid batteries, but considering research and development costs and other expenses, the final sales gross margin is expected to decrease. Currently, solid-state batteries are in the early stage of technical development, with the business gross margin higher than traditional technology by about 10 percentage points.
It further stated that the equipment currently produces solid-state batteries primarily applied in the low-altitude flight and consumer electronics fields. As of now, the sales gross margin of solid-state batteries is higher than that of traditional liquid batteries, but taking into account research and development costs and other expenses, the final sales gross margin is expected to decrease. Currently, solid-state batteries are in the early stage of technical development, with the business gross margin higher than traditional technology by about 10 percentage points.
In the 3C business, Zhao Shengyu stated that in terms of product development, they have developed a steel shell battery fully automatic assembly line with an overall efficiency of 15PPM, saving manpower while enhancing yield and stability. This has received praise from top customers. In the field related to autonomous driving, they have successfully developed aluminum shell camera welding processes and equipment, and have established a partnership with top customers.
Zhao Shengyu stated that currently, the main sectors focused on in the company's 3C business are 3C batteries, brittle materials, camera module (VCM), and automotive electronics. Significant progress has been made in several product lines of the 3C business and is showing a growth trend. "The overall orders for 3C business will have stable growth in the next two years."
"Looking at the industry's production capacity and current customer follow-up, it is expected that new signed orders in 2024 will see a significant increase, especially in the photovoltaic field." Zhao Shengyu said.
He stated that the company has had two years of technical reserves in the BC battery route, and the equipment is currently undergoing product technical verification in some top enterprises. The company's R&D team of over a hundred people has spent two years to achieve self-developed and self-produced high-power ultra-fast frequency-doubling lasers for photovoltaics. It can achieve chip-level processing speed in accuracy control and energy control, bringing some technical advantages to BC applications in stability and precision. In various indicators, it is somewhat better than imported lasers.
"The total value of TOPCon + double-sided is about 20 million yuan per GW; the photovoltaic laser equipment substituting copper for silver is expected to be 5-6 million yuan/GW; BC laser equipment is around 50 million yuan/GW. The comprehensive gross margin is expected to be around 40%." Zhao Shengyu stated.
In terms of new business, on May 20th of this year, Hymson Laser Technology Group announced that the company has recently made a major breakthrough in critical technologies and applications in the medical field of mid-infrared femtosecond lasers.
Zhao Shengyu mentioned that in the medical laser field, the company is currently steadily advancing the application for Class II and Class III medical device operation permits. After obtaining the permits, they will have the conditions for rapid commercialization.
"Applications for Class II medical qualification certificates related to skin treatments, testing, and diagnosis are expected to be gradually obtained in the first half of next year. As for hair regeneration treatment products and collagen regeneration products, a Class III medical qualification certificate is required. Clinical data on hair regeneration will be available by the end of this year to the first half of next year. At present, clinical trials have shown significant hair regeneration effects." he stated.
Regarding overseas markets, Zhao Shengyu stated that the company has made breakthrough progress in expanding in the overseas power battery equipment sector, with overseas orders accounting for approximately fifty percent. Among them, in August, they secured a lithium battery equipment order from a top overseas automotive company, with a corresponding amount of 1.25 billion yuan.
"Facing new trends and opportunities in the industry, the company, on one hand, steadily advances the expansion in overseas markets through a 'three-step' strategy of collaborating with outstanding domestic companies, partnering with Japanese and Korean battery companies, and providing integrated equipment solutions for overseas customers; on the other hand, accelerating strategic layout overseas. Currently, the overseas customers they cooperate with include: Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, Samsung, LG, Acc, Tesla, One, Kore Power, Honda, Agratas, Northvolt, and many other automotive companies and battery manufacturers," stated Luo Xiaoxi, director, deputy general manager, chief capital operations officer, and secretary of the board of directors at Hymson Laser Technology Group.
