According to Ernst & Young's forecast on December 2, as of November 30, 2024 public information statistics, Hong Kong ranks fourth in the global exchanges in terms of fundraising amount this year, at 10.7 billion US dollars (approximately 83.46 billion Hong Kong dollars), accounting for 9% of the global IPO fundraising. In terms of fundraising amount, the indian exchange, Nasdaq exchange, and NYSE ranked top three respectively. As of November 30, a total of 64 new stocks were listed in Hong Kong, raising a total of 83.4 billion Hong Kong dollars, with a yearly decrease of 6% and an increase of 80%. The average fundraising amount for new stocks this year is 1.304 billion Hong Kong dollars, an increase of 91% year-on-year. Excluding the fundraising amount of 35.67 billion Hong Kong dollars for the Midea Group Co., Ltd., the average fundraising amount for new stocks this year is 0.758 billion Hong Kong dollars, an increase of 11% year-on-year but still at a relatively low level in recent years. The bank pointed out that this year's global IPO activities overall slowed down, with an estimated total of 1,162 companies listed globally this year, raising a total of 117.3 billion US dollars, a decrease of 14% and 7% respectively year-on-year. Ernst & Young is cautiously optimistic about next year's IPO activities in Hong Kong, expecting a resurgence under the support of mainland companies listing overseas and the impact of the US interest rate cuts. If large new stocks come to market in Hong Kong next year, the total fundraising amount is expected to reach 120 billion Hong Kong dollars for the whole year, with a chance to return to the top three globally.
