On Wednesday, November 27, President-elect Donald Trump and Meta CEO, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg had dinner together at the Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, according to Caixin.

According to the latest reports, Stephen Miller, appointed as Deputy Chief of Staff for Trump's second term, confirmed the meeting and stated that like other business leaders, Zuckerberg hopes to support Trump's economic plan. "Clearly, Mark has his own interests, has his own company, has his own agenda. But he explicitly stated that he hopes to support the American national revival under Trump's leadership."

In addition, a spokesperson for Meta confirmed that Zuckerberg and Trump met on Wednesday and stated that Zuckerberg was invited to dinner with the president-elect and other members of his team to discuss the upcoming Trump administration. The spokesperson did not provide details on what was discussed, but added that Zuckerberg would not be staying for Thanksgiving.

Is the relationship easing?

Over the years, the relationship between Trump and Zuckerberg has been tense, especially after the Capitol riot incident at the beginning of 2021 led to Trump's Facebook account being suspended, their relationship became even more strained.

After the violent intrusion into the US Capitol by Trump supporters on January 6, 2021, Trump's official account was kicked out of Facebook. Although the company later restored Trump's account in early 2023, Trump has not posted on Facebook since.

During the 2024 US presidential election, Zuckerberg's attitude towards Trump began to become more subtle. While Zuckerberg did not clearly express support for any presidential candidate, he took a more positive stance towards Trump.

In July of this year, Trump posted a threat on his social network Truth Social, targeting election fraudsters, specifically naming Zuckerberg.

Interestingly, after being threatened by Trump, Zuckerberg rare praised Trump in a television interview, commending his extraordinary courage in the face of the assassination attempt, stating that the scene was 'shocking and rare in this life'. He also complained that senior officials in the Biden administration pressured Facebook during the pandemic to review some COVID-19 content.

Speaking of the relationship between Zuckerberg and Trump, it reminds people of another tech tycoon, Elon Musk. Currently, Musk is becoming increasingly influential in Trump's MAGA movement, contributing approximately 0.2 billion dollars through his political action committee to help Trump get elected during the elections.

Musk is also the boss of the social network X, and X's rise after Trump's victory is undoubtedly a huge threat to Facebook.
