Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu attended the opening ceremony of the third runway system at the airport, stating that the completion of the third runway system will significantly increase the airport capacity. He proposed three requirements for the local aviation industry, including fully restoring the air transportation capacity of Hong Kong, actively integrating advantages of the Greater Bay Area, and vigorously expanding international connections.
He mentioned that the expansion of the airport citydev scale will more than double, promoting complementary advantages between the civil aviation industry and the economies of various cities in the Greater Bay Area. The government will also further expand the Hong Kong aviation network, and airlines should develop more new routes, especially in Belt and Road countries.
