Tech news media "The Information" quoted reports that Amazon (AMZN.US) has developed a new ai language model, Olympus, which can process text, images, and videos, reducing the company's reliance on the ai chatbot Claude from ai startup Anthropic. Claude is a popular feature of Amazon's cloud computing service (AWS).
Reports indicate that Olympus can understand image and video contexts, assisting users in searching for specific scenarios with simple text commands, such as the winning shot in a basketball game. Amazon may announce the product at the upcoming annual Amazon cloud computing service re:Invent conference as early as next week.
Amazon invested an additional $4 billion in Anthropic last week, having invested $4 billion in the startup in September of last year as well. Anthropic is a competitor of OpenAI, which developed the chatbot ChatGPT.
