Member of the “24/7 Carbon Free Energy Compact” led by the United Nations - Providing 100% renewable energy at all times to customers seeking to respond to international initiatives

Osaka Gas Co., Ltd. (President and CEO: Fujiwara Masataka; hereafter, “Osaka Gas”) has joined the “24/7 Carbon Free Energy Compact” (hereinafter “24/7 CFE Compact”), an international initiative aimed at popularizing carbon-free electricity supply during all time periods. Currently, *1, 165 members are members, and Osaka Gas is the 9th Japanese company to join.

The 24/7 CFE Compact is an initiative led by the United Nations and launched in September 2021. Companies and organizations from around the world that aim to accelerate climate change countermeasures will join and promote the spread of carbon-free electricity by matching the demand for electricity with the amount of carbon-free electricity supplied in real time (in hourly units).

Since the Daigas Group is working not only on solar power generation that is generated during the day, but also on owning or procuring electricity from biomass power generation and wind power generation that can be generated at night, it is possible to supply 100% renewable energy (hereinafter “renewable energy”) during all time periods.
The electricity rate menu “D-Green” (sales will begin in April 2021) sold by Daigas Energy Co., Ltd. (President and CEO: Hiroyoshi Fukutani; hereafter “Daigas Energy”), which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Osaka Gas, is compatible with the idea of 24/7 CFE Compact because it supplies 100% renewable electricity*2 generated during the same time period to customers in response to customer demand for electricity. By joining the 24/7 CFE Compact, Osaka Gas will sell “D-Green,” which is an electricity rate menu with 100% renewable energy, to industrial customers through Daigas Energy, and will contribute to reducing customers' CO2 emissions and improving corporate value while also satisfying the needs of customers nationwide seeking to respond to international initiatives.

In order to achieve carbon neutral by 2050, the Daigas Group aims to contribute to the spread of 5 million kW*3 renewable energy sources both domestically and internationally, including procurement from other companies in addition to in-house development and ownership by 2030. Going forward, we will continue to contribute to the realization of a low and decarbonized society through the development of renewable energy sources and the supply of renewable electricity.
