For a limited time from December 2 (Monday) to January 31 (Friday), 2022/1/31 (Friday), we are aiming to reduce congestion during weekday morning commuting hours, “Morning discount on the Tokyu Line! The “Off-Peak Challenge” (hereafter, this service) will be implemented.
This service adds TOKYU POINT*3 to those who have registered for “TOKYU POINT that can be saved by train and bus,” enter the automatic ticket gate at each station ※1 on the Toyoko Line, Meguro Line, Tokyu Shin-Yokohama Line, and Denentoshi Line by the specified time, and leave the automatic ticket gates at Shibuya Station/Daikanyama Station/Nakameguro Station/Meguro Station, or at each station ※2 of another company's line of direct operation. It is a service that can be used at a reasonable price for customers who commute off-peak as a habit, by adding a maximum of 4 times 120 points per day depending on the number of times they participate, based on 30 points per participation.
Last year, we carried out the “Denentoshi Line Early Rise Support Campaign” as a “demonstration project related to reducing railway congestion” by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Approximately 14% of campaign participants (average of about 800 people per day) shifted to off-peak hours, and we were able to confirm the effect of reducing congestion equivalent to a congestion rate of about 2 points. Furthermore, it became clear that customers who participated in the campaign at least twice a week tend to continue off-peak commuting even after the campaign ended. Recently, based on the results of the demonstration project, we have launched a new service that encourages lifestyle habits such as morning commuting, and more customers can experience comfortable commuting during off-peak hours.
We have set a medium-term business strategy beginning in fiscal year 2012 to maximize the value of the railway network, and are working to level demand by optimizing transportation services. Leveling demand leads to optimization of equipment for railway operators that have equipment in line with peaks, contributing to medium- to long-term railway business continuity and environmental improvement. Going forward, we will consider eliminating congestion and delays as an important issue, and aim to realize optimal transportation services for our customers, local communities, and our company.
