EdgePoint Towers Sdn Bhd (EPT), part of ASEAN-based telecommunications infrastructure company EdgePoint Infrastructure, has entered a strategic partnership with Malaysia's largest mobile network operator, CelcomDigi Bhd. The Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was formalised during the TowerXchange Meet Up Asia 2024, highlighting the commitment to expanding connectivity, enhancing network synergies, and optimising costs to benefit CelcomDigi's customers with seamless connectivity.
The partnership also paves the way for advanced connectivity solutions such as in-building systems and small cells, ensuring improved indoor coverage and readiness for future data demand. Muniff Kamaruddin, Chief Executive Officer of EdgePoint Towers, noted the collaboration builds on a successful relationship and aligns with efforts to accelerate Malaysia's connectivity and digital transformation.
Datuk Idham Nawawi, Chief Executive Officer of CelcomDigi, expressed the company's commitment to developing a state-of-the-art network to advance Malaysia into a 5G and AI-powered digital society. The collaboration is set to optimise CelcomDigi's network, expanding coverage across the nation.
Additionally, a second agreement between Persatuan Penyedia Infrastruktur Telekomunikasi Malaysia (PPIT) and Malaysian Technical Standards Forum Bhd (MTFSB) was signed to ensure high-quality infrastructure deployment. The agreement underscores a shared commitment to maintaining network interoperability, safety, and technical standards.
EdgePoint currently operates over 15,000 towers across Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines, reinforcing its position as a key player in the region's telecommunications sector.
