Bermaz Secures Distribution Rights For Deepal EV From China

Bermaz Auto Berhad announced that it has been awarded the distributorship, sale of spare parts and provision of aftersales services of Deepal brand electric vehicles in Malaysia by Mobitech Co., Ltd, China, a wholly owned subsidiary of Chongqing Changan Automobile Co. Ltd., China ("Changan Automobile") which manages the exportation and supply of certain Changan brand vehicles and spare parts for Changan Automobile.

Changan Automobile is one of the four major Chinese automobile groups in China, with 40 years of car manufacturing experience, and have 13 manufacturing bases and 34 vehicle and new powertrain plants worldwide. It is a leading Chinese automotive manufacturer headquartered in Chongqing, China and manufactures, owns and distributes several brands such as Changan, Deepal and Avatr.

Changan Automobile is currently constructing its first overseas production facility (about 8.8 billion Thai Baht investment) in Rayong, Thailand under Phase 1, which on completion will consist of painting, assembly, engine assembly, and battery assembly lines with a yearly production capacity of up to 100,000 vehicles. The said production facility is targeted to commence operation in early 2025.

For Phase 2, Changan Automobile plans to invest up to 20.0 billion Thai baht for the establishment of a new energy vehicle
production facility with a yearly production capacity of up to 200,000 vehicles, to cater for the ASEAN market region as well as for the right-hand drive global market.
