Vimeo Insiders Added US$515.3k Of Stock To Their Holdings

Simply Wall St ·  Nov 25 18:24

Generally, when a single insider buys stock, it is usually not a big deal. However, when several insiders are buying, like in the case of Vimeo, Inc. (NASDAQ:VMEO), it sends a favourable message to the company's shareholders.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Vimeo

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Director Adam Gross bought US$250k worth of shares at a price of US$5.01 per share. Even though the purchase was made at a significantly lower price than the recent price (US$6.78), we still think insider buying is a positive. Because it occurred at a lower valuation, it doesn't tell us much about whether insiders might find today's price attractive.

Vimeo insiders may have bought shares in the last year, but they didn't sell any. You can see a visual depiction of insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last 12 months, below. If you want to know exactly who sold, for how much, and when, simply click on the graph below!

Insider Ownership Of Vimeo

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. Vimeo insiders own 9.1% of the company, currently worth about US$103m based on the recent share price. Most shareholders would be happy to see this sort of insider ownership, since it suggests that management incentives are well aligned with other shareholders.

What Might The Insider Transactions At Vimeo Tell Us?

It doesn't really mean much that no insider has traded Vimeo shares in the last quarter. But insiders have shown more of an appetite for the stock, over the last year. With high insider ownership and encouraging transactions, it seems like Vimeo insiders think the business has merit.
