As the industry impact gradually dissipates, the company’s revenue scale is expected to recover and achieve growth," said Xiang Rong, chairman of chengdu m&s electronics technology, at the performance briefing for the third quarter of 2024 held today (November 25).

It is a company engaged in the R&D, manufacturing, sales, and technical services of satellite navigation and satellite communication terminal equipment, with main products including satellite navigation, data links, satellite communications, electronic countermeasures, and other series products.

From the performance perspective, chengdu m&s electronics technology has experienced five consecutive quarters of losses since the third quarter of 2023; this year's third quarter loss was 84.57 million yuan, marking its largest single-quarter loss in nearly two years.

Regarding how the company responds to the continuously expanding loss situation, chairman Xiang Rong stated during an interview with The Star Daily reporter, "Currently, we understand that the industry impact has begun to gradually diminish, and the revenue scale of the original satellite navigation products is expected to recover and achieve growth."

It is worth mentioning that chengdu m&s electronics technology is one of the main suppliers in China's satellite navigation and satellite communication terminal equipment manufacturing field. With the rapid development of China's low-orbit satellite industry, chengdu m&s electronics technology has thus received more market attention.

In the field of low earth orbit satellites, Xiangrong stated that the company previously undertook a national level phased array product special technology research and industrialization project which has passed project acceptance. The ground-based phased array antenna system developed has undergone in-orbit testing and verification with a certain experimental low earth orbit satellite.

Currently, the company has made several technological breakthroughs in the direction of phased array antenna systems, such as standardization and integration design, optimizing core indicators, and product iteration upgrades, forming a series of product types. Xiangrong mentioned that a small number of low earth orbit satellite products have already been delivered and applied this year, but the revenue generated currently accounts for a relatively low proportion of the company's total income.

At the same time, the company has made certain breakthroughs in civil aviation airborne applications, data links, and electronic countermeasures, and it is expected to gradually form new revenue growth points in the future.

In the field of civil aviation airborne applications, the company has completed small-scale production and delivery of Ku single-band airborne antennas. Currently, on one hand, it continues to promote airworthiness certification across multiple aircraft models, and on the other hand, it is actively discussing cooperation models and installation plans with integrators and various airlines. For domestically produced aircraft such as the C919, the company is actively connecting and promoting relevant work.

In the data link application field, the company's products mounted on a certain platform have passed several performance verifications, proving that the technology and engineering application in this field are relatively mature. With the increase in model project demands, product revenue is expected to grow.

In the electronic countermeasure application field, several of the company’s electronic countermeasure equipment ranked among the top in technical selection at customer units, successfully qualifying. Among them, several products have passed the finalization tests and will enter mass production once orders are placed; multiple products are currently at various stages of bidding, development, and testing.

The Star Daily reporter noted that, in addition to the aforementioned research and development technologies and project progress, certain ongoing projects in Chengdu M&S Electronics Technology's 2024 semi-annual report are also worth attention.

Among them, the company's active phased array function integration research project can be applied in fields such as low earth orbit satellite internet, further enhancing the interconnection capabilities of low earth orbit satellites; the vehicle quality control link technology project, dynamic spectrum access technology project for wireless ad hoc networks, and network scale scalability technology project for swarm ad hoc network communication, are all applicable in the fields of unmanned vehicles, unmanned platforms, and drones, which can further enhance wireless communication system capabilities.
