The US National Weather Service's 6-10 day forecast from November 27 to December 1 predicts that temperatures in most parts of the US will be below normal and precipitation will be higher than normal.

The following are US agricultural weather tips for Friday, November 22, 2024, compiled exclusively by the Jin10 Futures App

Western US region

Northern California and southwestern Oregon remain a threat due to continued heavy precipitation, flooding, and mudslides. Earlier today, streams and rivers in western and northwestern Santa Rosa experienced widespread light to moderate flooding, including parts of the Russian river basin. There is also significant precipitation from the Pacific Northwest to the Northern Rockies, while high altitudes are covered with heavy wet snow.

American Plains

The dry weather is accompanied by an overall warming trend in temperature. However, in regions close to the Canadian border, cold conditions still dominate, and today's high temperatures in northern Montana and North Dakota are expected to remain below 32°F. By contrast, temperatures in western Nebraska and elsewhere will rise back to 60°F or higher later today. In recent weeks, abundant precipitation has generally improved the prospects for winter wheat in the central and southern Great Plains, while some arid regions in the Northern Great Plains have partially hindered wheat cultivation.

Cool and windy weather persists. Furthermore, rain and snow showers continue, mainly in the lower Great Lakes region. With most harvesting activities completed this season, producers are turning their attention to other agricultural activities such as fall tillage, fertilization, and farm maintenance.

Southern region of the United States

The warmth of southern Texas is returning. The rest of the country is dominated by cold, dry weather. This morning, parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia experienced frosts and slight freezes. Field work in the South is progressing smoothly, with few delays; in Louisiana, for example, 57% of sugar cane had been harvested as of November 17, well above the 5-year average of 48%. Nationwide, as of November 17, cotton harvest was 77% complete.

Weather outlook

Unstable weather in northern and northwestern California will continue until early next week, although heavy precipitation will decrease after today. Still, additional precipitation in the Sierra Nevada and northern California coast could reach 4 to 10 inches or more. Eventually, light to moderate precipitation will cover the rest of the western United States, with the exception of the southwestern desert and the southern Rocky Mountains. Meanwhile, a separate storm system in the northeast will move eastward, but despite this, precipitation to help mitigate the drought will continue until the weekend. The rest of the country, including most of the Great Plains, will experience dry weather over the next 5 days. Elsewhere, the cold weather will be deeper in the northern part of the US, and temperatures are expected to drop below 0°F in parts of Montana and North Dakota early next week.

The US National Weather Service's 6-10 day forecast from November 27 to December 1 predicts that temperatures in most parts of the US will be below normal and precipitation will be higher than normal. Warmer than normal weather will be limited to the deep South, from southern Texas to the South Atlantic coast, while drier than normal conditions should be limited to Pacific states, the Great Basin, and parts of southeastern Arizona to western Texas.
