Maxell <6810> announced that it has further downsized the Bright Mirror Display (BM-Display) developed in August 2023, and has developed a new add-on glass reflective display for construction vehicles, called the add-on construction vehicle BM-Display. The company conducted verification experiments with Shimizu Construction <1803> and confirmed the effectiveness of safety measures using DX on construction sites.
From July 2024, the company has been working with Shimizu Construction to digitize hazard maps using the add-on construction vehicle BM-Display. They have developed a system that displays warning information to drivers at necessary locations without relying on driver memory or signage, and conducted verification experiments.
This time, the add-on construction vehicle BM-Display was installed on a dump truck at a tunnel construction site, and evaluations were conducted. As a result, warning information was timely displayed on the front glass without relying on driver memory, providing awareness and allowing for minimal eye movements to confirm the display, thus confirming improved safety.
The company is advancing product development early in order to improve the safety of elderly and novice drivers during driving operations by installing the add-on construction vehicle BM-Display. They also aim to expand to buses, trains, and snow removal vehicles, aiming to improve the overall safety of commercial vehicles and secure employment.
