In the past two weeks, Trump and Musk seem to have been inseparable: from Musk's "unexpected appearance" during Trump's call with Zelensky, to having dinner with Trump and his family, and then providing significant financial support for Trump's campaign, becoming an important advisor in planning for Trump's second presidential term... Now, the "friendship" between the two continues.
In the past two weeks, Trump and Musk seem to have been inseparable: from Musk's "unexpected appearance" during Trump's call with Zelensky, to having dinner with Trump and his family, then to providing significant financial support for Trump's campaign and becoming an important advisor for planning Trump's second presidential term... Now, their friendship continues.
Recently, when Google CEO Sundar Pichai called Trump to congratulate him on his election as president, an unexpected "guest" appeared on the other end of the line: none other than the world's richest person, Musk.
According to technology media The Information, citing informed sources, Musk's presence surprised Pichai.
Musk's companies compete with Google in several areas, especially in the fields of ai and autonomous driving technology.
Both Musk and Trump have publicly criticized Google, but Trump's attitude has changed recently.
The Information reported that Musk's appearance in the call between Trump and Pichai is the first instance of Musk being on a call with Trump and other technology leaders.
Trump's spokesman, Steven Cheung, stated:
Trump has received congratulatory calls from business and technology leaders from all walks of life, celebrating his historic victory. As Trump stated multiple times during the campaign, the president has kept in touch with these leaders to ensure that usa's jobs and workers are protected.
Recently, Musk publicly criticized Google, accusing the company of bias in its search result displays. Trump had previously made similar criticisms of Google, even threatening to file criminal charges against the company if elected.
On the day of the usa election, Musk retweeted a post pointing out that Google displayed the 'polling location' section when searching for 'where can I vote for Harris,' but did not provide relevant information when searching for 'where can I vote for Trump.'
Google responded that the search results for Harris displayed a map because Harris is a county in Texas, and Musk thanked Google for the clarification.
Trump had also made similar accusations. In September of this year, he posted on Truth Social, stating that Google was interfering in the election by only showing 'negative stories' about him while showing 'positive stories' about Harris, and that he would file a lawsuit against Google.
However, Trump recently changed his attitude towards Google. In October, he stated that Google was treating him 'much better.' Trump mentioned that Pichai had called him to discuss Trump's recent appearance at mcdonald's, where he briefly helped make fries. This was 'one of the most talked-about events on Google.'
In October, Trump stated that if he is elected again, he will not break up Google.
