In today's growth market, the Tokyo Stock Exchange Growth Market Index and the Tokyo Stock Exchange Growth Market 250 Index declined slightly, with 248 stocks rising, 293 stocks falling, and 45 remaining unchanged.
Today's growth market showed a heavy upper trend. On the previous day, October 19, the US market's Dow average declined for the fourth consecutive day. The urgency of the Ukraine-Russia war accelerated selling. Concerns about growth emerged after a sluggish housing start number, leading to further declines in the Dow, which traded soft all day. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq turned upwards, driven by expectations for semiconductor NVIDIA's earnings report and a decrease in long-term interest rates, expanding its gains towards the end.
In contrast to the mixed closing of the US stock market, the Tokyo Stock Exchange Growth Market Index started off strong. It expanded its gains in the morning but quickly encountered a sense of buying exhaustion, which led to a gradual reduction in gains thereafter. In the afternoon, it continued to oscillate around the previous day's closing price, ultimately ending trading with a slight loss. Amid tensions in US-China relations due to the upcoming Trump administration's actions, a wait-and-see attitude remained strong ahead of tonight's NVIDIA earnings report, resulting in a reluctance to engage in active trading. However, newly emerging stocks with a sense of delay saw active buying for stocks with specific materials.
In individual stocks, Agile <6573> saw a dominant profit-taking sell-off due to a rebound from the previous day's sharp rise, leading to a 14% decline, making it the top decliner. HENNGE <4475>, which had been trading near recent highs, dropped 9% due to prevailing profit-taking. Additionally, BASE FOOD <2936>, which has continued to trend softly, fell 6%. Among high market capitalization stocks, Lifeline <7157> and GENDA <9166> also trended soft, while top decliners included Convan <6574>, T.S.I <7362>, and FISCO <3807>.
On the other hand, Cube <7112>, which announced a shareholder benefit program to award shareholders holding over 200 shares with points worth 0.01 million yen, surged 18% to hit the upper limit. Ortz <260A>, which launched a real estate matching business utilizing AI technology, also rose 17% to the upper limit. Furthermore, Qualips <4894>, which announced that it submitted part of its clinical-related application materials and received additional inquiries from PMDA, increased by 16%. Among high market capitalization stocks, Trial <141A> and Cover <5253> performed steadily, while top gainers included CellSeed <7776>, Schoo <264A>, and Regil <176A>.
Meanwhile, in the Tokyo Stock Exchange Growth Market Core Index, Lifeline, GENDA, and GNI Group <2160> fell.
