JAL has applied to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism for the Japan departure international air cargo fuel surcharge that will be effective from December 1, 2024. Based on the average price of jet fuel in October 2024, which was $87.80 per barrel, the fuel price indicator is set at "85.00 or more but less than 90.00", and the surcharge amount will be 62 yen per kilogram (long-distance routes such as Americas and European Index), 37 yen (long-distance routes in Asia), and 33 yen (short-distance routes in Asia).
JAL has set the revision period for the Japan international cargo fuel surcharge to be 12 times a year (monthly). The surcharge amount for each month will be determined according to the following table, which was introduced in April 2024 and is based on the average value of jet fuel (kerosene) traded in Singapore in the month before the previous month.
JAL will strive to provide stable cargo transportation services while making every effort to help themselves.
