Kawasaki Heavy Industries will enter the business of maintenance (maintenance, repair, overhaul) of civil aviation engines.
Our company has been conducting parts repair of the "PW1100G-JM" engine, in which we have participated through the international joint venture body International Aero Engines, LLC (IAE). We have invested approximately 7 billion yen by 2026, and will start maintenance and overhaul of the "PW1100G-JM" engine, aiming for over 50 engine maintenance per year by fiscal year 2031.
The demand for maintenance of civil aviation engines is expected to grow steadily due to the increase in the number of operating aircraft resulting from the recovery of global passenger aircraft demand. Concerns are also raised about the worldwide shortage of maintenance capabilities. As part of our response to these challenges, we will provide prompt and high-quality maintenance services by utilizing advanced technical capabilities gained through participation in international joint development and manufacturing programs for civil aviation engines, as well as rich knowledge and experience in maintenance of engines for the Ministry of Defense, and by promoting automation through the use of our company's robot technology, etc.
We will make every effort to leverage the technology and experience we have cultivated so far to the maximum extent, and to combine all Kawasaki's technologies to early start and expand the maintenance business of civilian aircraft engines. In the future, we will continue to contribute to the maintenance and improvement of the safety and operational efficiency of aircraft worldwide, as well as the development of the aircraft industry in Japan.
