Sources reveal that major advisors to incoming president Trump have indicated their support for former Federal Reserve Board member Kevin Warsh to become the next Treasury Secretary.
However, they also support hedge fund manager Scott Bessent and consider Warsh as a backup option. Sources say Trump has not yet made a decision, and the recent struggle for the position has left him quite annoyed.
Insiders state that Warsh has been advising the transition team on economic policy and personnel decisions since election day, and he is expected to visit Palm Beach this week.
The former Federal Reserve Board member was considered by Trump in 2017 to be nominated as the Federal Reserve Chairman, but as of last week, he had not been nominated as the Treasury Secretary. Sources said that the messy Treasury Secretary dispute between Bessent and Cantor Fitzgerald LP CEO Howard Lutnick forced the transition team to consider other candidates for Trump to consider.
Warsh's wife comes from the cosmetic empire Estee Lauder family.
