Trump has chosen Brendan Carr as the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
According to Zhito Finance APP, the president-elect of the usa, Donald Trump, has selected Brendan Carr as the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Carr has openly criticized technology giants, federal broadband infrastructure funding, and so-called political bias.
Carr is currently a senior Republican at the FCC and authored a chapter on telecom regulatory agencies in the 2025 project planning document, stating that the agency must regulate large technology companies.
Trump claimed, "Carr is a champion of free speech, and he has been fighting against the regulatory laws that suffocate the freedom of the american people. He will end the regulatory overreach that has hindered job creators and innovators in the usa and ensure that the FCC serves rural areas in the usa."
In a recent letter to the CEOs of Meta (META.US), Alphabet (GOOG.US, GOOGL.US), apple (AAPL.US), and microsoft (MSFT.US), Carr stated that these companies "played a central role in the cartel of censorship," suppressing voices of people exercising their First Amendment rights.
Carr also criticized the FCC's decision not to restore nearly 0.9 billion dollars in subsidies for Elon Musk's satellite internet provider, Starlink, claiming that the Biden administration has not implemented its 42.45 billion dollar plan to expand high-speed internet access, especially in rural areas.
He also opposed the FCC's decision to restore net neutrality rules and promised to stop the FCC's efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion starting next year.
