The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced on Sunday local time that fresh carrots sold by several large grocery retailers in 18 states in the usa have been infected with E. coli, resulting in one death and at least 39 illnesses.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stated in a press release that these infections are associated with whole bags of carrots and baby carrots sold by Grimmway Farms in california. Stores such as walmart, target, the kroger, amazon's Whole Foods Market, and Trader Joe’s sell these carrots under various brands.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicated that these carrots are unlikely to still be on store shelves but may still be in consumers' homes and should be thrown away.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) stated on Saturday that Grimmway Farms has voluntarily recalled these carrots, which were also shipped to stores in canada and puerto rico.
The best by dates for the recalled whole carrots range from August 14 to October 23. The best by dates for the recalled baby carrots are from September 11 to November 12.
