Terumo Corporation (headquarters: Shibuya, Tokyo, President: Mitsuaki Samejima) is pleased to announce that it has been certified as a "Kurumin" company by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare as a "Childcare Support Company."
"Kurumin certification" is proof that a company has been recognized by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare as a "Childcare Support Company." This certification is granted when a company achieves its own childcare support goals as defined based on the Next Generation育成支援対策推進法 and meets certain standards.
Terumo is working on creating a work environment that allows associates to balance work and childcare, aiming for each individual to fully utilize their abilities, and has formulated the following action plan. This time, achieving those goals has been recognized.
Terumo's action plan objectives (Plan period: April 1, 2022 – March 31, 2024)
(1) "Maintain the male parental leave uptake rate above 50%"
To promote support for balancing work and childcare, initiatives to support the childcare leave uptake rate of male associates reached 72.7% during the planned period.
(2) "Develop a system to support the return to work after parental leave and career development for all associates who took parental leave"
We held seminars to support associates returning from parental leave and their supervisors, and established consultation desks to support career development for associates during and after their parental leave. Additionally, as an early return-to-work support measure, we made smart phones available for loan to those who wished to stay in contact with the company and access necessary information during their leave.
Terumo has obtained the Kurumin mark certification in fiscal year 2014, and this is the second time.
Moving forward, Terumo aims for sustainable corporate growth by creating an environment where diversity is respected and each associate can fully utilize their abilities.
*In the Terumo Group, employees are referred to as "associates" to acknowledge them as fellow workers.
