Terumo Corporation (headquartered in Shibuya, Tokyo, President: Mitsuru Samejima) announces that its U.S. subsidiary Terumo BCT, Inc. will produce Terumo BCT products at its Hangzhou factory, which is part of its Chinese subsidiary Terumo Medical Products Hangzhou Co., Ltd. (location: Hangzhou, zhejiang, china).

In the future, Terumo BCT plans to produce the blood component collection device "Trima Accel" and the centrifugal blood component separation device "Spectra Optia" used in apheresis treatment at the Hangzhou factory, along with the disposable products that correspond to these devices. Terumo BCT's medical devices for blood and cell therapy are adopted by blood centers, hospitals, and research facilities, and are widely recognized in china. By producing these products locally, the aim is to deliver more products to patients and provide new treatment options.
By handling Terumo BCT's products, the Hangzhou factory will produce products from all three of Terumo's companies: "Cardiovascular Company", "Medical Care Solutions Company", and "Blood and Cell Technology Company".

Terumo established the Hangzhou factory in 1995 and began producing medical tubes and other products for markets outside of china. Currently, the Hangzhou factory produces various medical devices, including infusion sets for pumps and artificial lungs, and will also be responsible for producing Terumo BCT products in the future. In 2018, Terumo continued to strengthen its production base in china by acquiring Essent Technology Peking Co., Ltd., which specializes in heart catheter-related products. Additionally, in the 2000s, Terumo established sales bases in china, focusing on high-functional products such as heart catheters, artificial lungs, and diabetes-related products.

Terumo will continue to pursue contributions to "the evolution of healthcare" and "the enhancement of patients' quality of life (QOL)", providing valuable products and services that support people's health and lives.
