Don't Ignore The Insider Selling In Beazer Homes USA

Simply Wall St ·  Nov 15 18:46

We'd be surprised if Beazer Homes USA, Inc. (NYSE:BZH) shareholders haven't noticed that the Senior VP & CFO, David Goldberg, recently sold US$194k worth of stock at US$32.06 per share. However, the silver lining is that the sale only reduced their total holding by 4.4%, so we're hesitant to read anything much into it, on its own.

Beazer Homes USA Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In fact, the recent sale by David Goldberg was the biggest sale of Beazer Homes USA shares made by an insider individual in the last twelve months, according to our records. So it's clear an insider wanted to take some cash off the table, even below the current price of US$34.63. When an insider sells below the current price, it suggests that they considered that lower price to be fair. That makes us wonder what they think of the (higher) recent valuation. However, while insider selling is sometimes discouraging, it's only a weak signal. It is worth noting that this sale was only 4.4% of David Goldberg's holding.
