Yangwang has begun pre-sales of the U7 without releasing pricing information. The BYD sub-brand previously said the U7 would be priced in the 1-million-yuan level.
Yangwang, the premium brand of BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY), has started pre-sales of the U7 sedan, the brand's third model, at the 2024 Guangzhou auto show, which starts today.
Yangwang is offering battery electric vehicle (BEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) variants of the U7, which customers will need to pay 20,000 yuan ($2,770) to reserve.
The BYD sub-brand did not release pre-sale pricing information for the U7, which made its debut on the first day of the 2024 Beijing auto show on April 25, when Yangwang said the U7 would be a flagship sedan priced in the RMB 1 million level.
With up to 1,300 horsepower, the Yangwang U7 can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 270 kilometers per hour.
It has a braking distance of 33 meters from 100 km/h and a minimum turning radius of 4.85 meters, according to Yangwang.
The Yangwang U7 BEV is powered by a battery pack with a capacity of 135.5 kWh, which the brand today said is a high-performance blade battery pack exclusive to the model, with a peak discharge current of up to 1,700 A and capable of delivering a CLTC range of 720 kilometers.
The model supports simultaneous charging with two charging guns up to 500 kW, capable of charging from 30 percent to 80 percent in 20 minutes.
Yangwang did not provide any further information about the battery pack. Late last month, a prominent auto blogger claimed that the Yangwang U7 will be powered by BYD's second-generation blade batteries, boasting a charging multiplier of more than 5.5 C and a discharging multiplier of over 14 C.
The Yangwang U7 PHEV is powered by a battery pack with a capacity of 52.4 kWh and a maximum charging power of 210 kW. The variant has a combined range of up to 1,000 kilometers on full fuel and full charge.
Yangwang is a sub-brand announced by BYD on January 5, 2023 to target the ultra-luxury market priced in the RMB 1 million segment.
The brand has already launched the U8 off-road SUV (sport utility vehicle), as well as the U9 electric supercar.
The Yangwang U7 entered a regulatory filing catalog on January 15, showing it to have length, width and height of 5,265 mm, 1,998 mm and 1,517 mm, respectively, and a wheelbase of 3,160 mm.
The Yangwang U7 is powered by four permanent magnet synchronous motors, each with a peak power of 240 kW, according to the filing.
The U7 is the first vehicle to feature BYD's DiSus-Z intelligent body control system, which enables the vehicle to provide better ride comfort.
DiSus is a body control system released by BYD on April 10, 2023, and previously had three branches, including the intelligent vibration-damping body control system (DiSus-C), intelligent air body control system (DiSus-A) and intelligent hydraulic body control system (DiSus-P).
DiSus-Z's has ultra-fast regulation with a response time as fast as 10 ms, BYD previously said.
