Jiyue says the Robo X comes with a high-performance drive system and can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 1.9 seconds.
Jiyue, the electric vehicle (EV) maker created by Baidu in partnership with Geely Holding Group, has unveiled Robo X, an electric supercar, to showcase its industrial design capabilities.
The company showcased the Robo X today on the first day of the 2024 Guangzhou auto show, describing it as an Artificial Intelligence (AI) smart-driving supercar that for the first time blends AI, autonomous driving into a supercar.
Jiyue has opened pre-orders for the Robo X. Those interested can pay RMB 49,999 ($6,910) to reserve the model, with mass production expected in 2027.
Jiyue describes the Robo X as a performance beast with a high-performance drive system that can sprint from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in less than 1.9 seconds.
The supercar allows drivers to experience shipboard-like catapult takeoff acceleration and offers a maximum range of more than 650 km, the company said.
Jiyue used a unibody carbon fiber frame and 5052 high-strength aluminum alloy for the Robo X, creating a lightweight, high-strength body structure that weighs just 1,850 kg.
The two-seater supercar measures 4,650 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width, 1,195 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,700 mm.
The EV maker emphasized the supercar's design, saying it represents the future direction of electric supercar design and will reinvent the experience of the AI-powered racing segment.
"For the next 20 years, the design of supercars will bear the shadow of Robo X," said Jiyue CEO Joe Xia, adding, "This is the best design in the history of Chinese automobiles today, and it is a landmark presence."
Inspired by fighter jets, the Robo X draws on the design concepts of fighter jet cockpits, with eagle-wing doors, and a large split tail, according to Jiyue.
These designs give the Robo X a visually striking appearance and superior aerodynamics, it said.
Utilizing Baidu Apollo's self-driving capabilities, the electric supercar is the first to apply pure-vision, high-level smart driving technology that enables track-level autonomous driving , Jiyue said.
This is the first time the industry has used L4 self-driving technology capabilities for the track, pushing the boundaries of traditional supercar design imagination, it said.
The supercar's smart cockpit features Jiyue's AI voice large model, which allows owners to send commands to Simo, a virtual voice assistant, to view information such as motor torque, chassis dynamics and thermal management.
Jiyue today also launched the Passion Edition variant of the Jiyue 07 electric sedan at a starting price of RMB 279,900 but is limited to a supply of 88 units.
The Jiyue 07 Passion comes with a 100-kWh battery pack from CALT and has a CLTC range of 770 km. It is powered by a dual-motor four-wheel drive system with a total power of 400 kW and a peak torque of 686Nm, and is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km per hour in 3.7 seconds.
Jiyue launched the Jiyue 07 on September 10 at a starting price of RMB 209,900, the brand's second model after the Jiyue 01 SUV (sport utility vehicle).
The company also unveiled the updated Jiyue 01 at the Guangzhou auto show, with upgrades to the electric drive system and an improved CLTC range of 780 kilometers.
The Jiyue 01 was launched on October 27, 2023 and is currently priced at a starting price of RMB 219,900 yuan.
