The Macao SAR government has submitted the budget proposal for the fiscal year 2024 to the Legislative Assembly. It will continue to implement a series of livelihood measures next year (2024), with an estimated total amount of 24.677 billion Macanese Patacas.
Among them, the cash sharing scheme, medical subsidy scheme, residence electricity subsidy scheme, and continuing education development scheme are expected to have a total expenditure of 8.514 billion Macanese Patacas. This will be used to cover expenses such as free education subsidies, tuition subsidies for Macao residents students who are not benefited by free education, subsidies for higher education students' learning materials, student book subsidies, teaching staff and professional development subsidies for private education institutions, respect for the elderly pensions, retirement pensions, disability pensions, disability subsidies, special living allowances for 3 types of vulnerable families, and regular aid funds, with a total estimated expenditure of 13.063 billion Macanese Patacas. The capital injection from the Central Provident Fund involves 3 billion Macanese Patacas.
