Logistics company FedEx (FDX.US) announced an increase in international cargo flight frequencies from Qingdao to the USA, and officially launched the Qingdao International Port Operations Center to further strengthen the company's logistics network layout in China.
The relevant route takes off from Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport, stops in Osaka, Japan, and then heads to Memphis, Tennessee, USA. The route started trial operations once a week from May this year. After the upgrade, it will operate from Monday to Friday, with a total of 5 flights per week, using B777 freighters.
FedEx stated that the additional flights will shorten the transportation time for packages and heavy goods exported to North America by customers in Qingdao and Shandong region by 1 day compared to the past. Some shipments to the USA can be delivered the next day.
In addition, FedEx's Qingdao International Port Operations Center has officially commenced operations, becoming the company's 5th international port operations center in China. The new facility is located at Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport, covering an area of approximately 2,000 square meters, and equipped with a fully automated sorting system. (js/w)
