As of October 31, the net inflow of funds into global etf this year has reached 1.4 trillion USD, exceeding the record of 1.33 trillion for the entire year of 2021. Demand for fixed income, csi commodity equity index, and stocks etfs is booming, with an inflow of 11.7 billion USD into china stocks etf in October (etfs listed overseas in china), more than double the peak in June 2022.

This year, global ETFs attracted record-breaking inflows, with strong demand for various types of ETFs.

On Wednesday, according to Blackrock's data, as of October 31, the net inflow of global ETFs this year has reached $1.4 trillion, surpassing the record of $1.33 trillion for the entire year of 2021.

Blackrock iShares Europe, Middle East, and Africa investment strategy director Karim Chedid stated:

This year is poised to be a record-breaking year, with October's inflows reaching $188 billion, the second highest in history, only behind July's $199 billion, despite many stock and bond indices falling that month.

However, Syl Flood, senior product manager at Morningstar, stated that despite the record-breaking fund inflows, the overall ETF assets have slightly decreased on a month-on-month basis, from $13.5 trillion to $13.3 trillion, due to the slight decline in the returns of most Morningstar ETF categories in October.

There is strong demand for various types of fixed income, commodity, and stock ETFs.

Specifically, according to Blackrock's data, this year people have particularly strong demand for fixed income ETFs, with a net inflow of $376 billion, exceeding the record of $331 billion set last year.

Due to the global central banks initiating an interest rate cut cycle, investors are hoping to lock in higher yields while the returns are still reasonable.

With the gold price previously hitting a historical high, csi commodity equity index ETFs are also gaining popularity. In October, the net inflow of csi commodity equity index commodities amounted to 6.4 billion US dollars. If this trend continues, csi commodity equity index ETFs will see their first positive growth year since 2020, with total outflows from 2021 to 2023 amounting to 28.4 billion US dollars.

However, so far this year, most of the inflows have been absorbed by stock ETFs, with stock ETFs absorbing 927 billion US dollars.

Among them, the inflow of US stock ETFs in October was 75.5 billion US dollars, as usual, occupying the majority of the funds. Data from BlackRock Global Allocation Fund shows that last Wednesday, the day after the election, there was an inflow of 22.2 billion US dollars into US-listed ETFs, breaking the record set after the 2020 election.

Emerging markets have also absorbed 29.4 billion US dollars, with record inflows in Greater China, amounting to 11.7 billion US dollars in October (ETFs listed overseas in China), more than double the peak in June 2022.

Morningstar data shows that the iShares China Large Cap ETF (FXI) absorbed 5.5 billion US dollars, ranking third globally in October. The asset size doubled in just one month, surpassing the world's largest ETF, the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY).
