The founder and chairman of Galaxy Ent (00027.HK), Mr. Lui Che Woo, passed away last Thursday (7th) at the age of 95. Jiahua Group expressed deep condolences in the obituary, stating that Mr. Lui Che Woo loved his country, Hong Kong, and Macau throughout his life. He was a highly respected entrepreneur and philanthropist. The Jiahua Group he founded also upholds the principles of honesty and innovation, wholeheartedly contributing to the country's development.
In the obituary, Jiahua Group also mentioned that Mr. Lui Che Woo was hailed as the 'King of Quarry' and made outstanding contributions to Hong Kong's post-war construction and economic development. Since founding Jiahua Company in 1955, he was involved in the reclamation of East Kowloon, introduced automated technology in the extraction of Anderson Road quarry in the 1960s, expanded real estate business at the same time, laying a solid foundation. In the 1970s, he built a five-star hotel, improving the quality of Hong Kong's tourism, and established the Hong Kong Hotels Association.
Since the 1980s, Mr. Lui Che Woo has vigorously developed real estate business in Hong Kong and the USA. In the 1990s, his business expanded to the Yangtze River Delta and the Greater Bay Area. In 2002, he founded Galaxy Ent, and over the years, he has been actively promoting Macau's economy towards moderate diversification, assisting in the steady innovation and sustainable development of the comprehensive travel & leisure industry.
